Meet the new ICE 62 Kaleandra!
Kaleandra features a composite hull and a displacement of just 19 tons—around 25% lighter than yachts in her class. From a hydrodynamic perspective, the waterlines were developed to allow efficient upwind sailing at narrow angles, while enabling rapid acceleration and effortless planing on downwind courses. With a maximum beam of 5.20 meters and a wide, powerful stern section, the ICE 62 offers outstanding stability. Combined with a high-strength steel keel that concentrates weight lower in the bulb, the result is a yacht that is exceptionally fast, stable, and easy to handle.
The ICE 62 is also equipped with an ultrasonic antifouling system, which uses micro-vibrations to prevent marine growth on the hull. According to the manufacturer, this technology reduces maintenance costs, improves hydrodynamic efficiency, and limits the use of chemical treatments. Real-world performance will soon put these claims to the test.
In terms of sail plan, for a displacement of just 19 tons, the ICE 62 carries nearly 220 square meters of sail area upwind and approximately 450 square meters downwind. This translates into a power-to-weight ratio of 31 upwind and 63 downwind—figures unmatched among production cruising yachts. One of the key reasons is the fully integrated design approach: at these load levels, strength and stability can only be guaranteed by a rigid carbon structure, built under strict quality control standards.
The deck layout and hull design, both by Umberto Felci, combine elegance with functionality. The garage can accommodate a fully inflated 3.2-meter tender. The shipyard’s Italian artisans crafted the bright interior to the highest standards. This layout features four cabins and three heads: an owner’s suite forward, two guest cabins aft, and a skipper’s or children’s cabin opposite the galley. The galley itself is located near the mast, the most stable area of the yacht. Large wrap-around deckhouse windows flood the interior with natural light and provide excellent visibility to the outside.
