Here we bring you an English version:
ICE Yachts, Italian shipyard leader in the production of semi-custom and custom cruising-regatta sailboats, has recently launched the first model of a new series that is the result of the collaboration between three of the most renowned companies in the yachting industry. With hull and naval architecture by Farr Yacht Design, interior and exterior design by Micheletti + Partners and structural studies by Pure design + Engineering, the ICE 66 rs perfectly embodies the shipyard's slogan: “only the best”.

With this new line, ICE Yachts is not looking to replace its current production, but has wanted to collaborate with the most innovative design studios in the industry to create a light, fast and competitive, yet comfortable boat, designed for a public that values the solidity and performance of ICE Yachts but, at the same time, desires a more avant-garde design.

This first unit is built with a sandwich hull of fiberglass and carbon fiber and a deck completely in carbon fiber, taking full advantage of the properties of this material that ensures great rigidity and keeps vibrations, and therefore noise on board, at minimum levels. Anticipating the needs of all shipowners, the shipyard is already working on an all-carbon design.

The carbon mast provides a generous sail area, whose load is perfectly counterbalanced by the keel, whose double Weldox structure and lead bulb give it the necessary solidity and rigidity. In addition, the carbon rudder, autoclave-forged at 7 bar and designed with state-of-the-art technology, ensures exceptional control of the boat, even under high hydrodynamic loads, offering maximum reliability. Giovanni Belgrade of Pure Engineering, responsible for the structural studies of the new ICE 66 rs, says: “The technologies and materials, which have evolved radically, make it possible to design light and solid boats that guarantee comfortable and silent sailing.”
The hull lines of the new model have been designed to further elevate the performance to which ICE Yachts owners are accustomed. Exhibiting pure racer characteristics, the ICE 66 rs features a slightly inverted bow, typical of the Italian shipyard, and a maximum beam offset aft. These qualities, together with a significant righting torque, position the boat to compete with the most racing sailboats. Details such as the 3.35m draft, the right compromise to ensure high performance and the ability to access most ports in the Mediterranean, and the large garage, capable of accommodating a tender of up to 3 meters, highlight its versatility. “The most remarkable aspect of this project has been the freedom we have had when designing the hull, the appendages and the sail plan, with the premise of combining the highest level of performance with maximum simplicity in terms of maneuvering and steering. With all this we have created a modern and very fast sailboat that is also stable and reliable,” say the Farr Yacht Design studio, responsible for the hull and naval architecture.

On deck, the typical Mediterranean-style cockpit offers ample space for socializing and enjoying the open air, while the maneuvering area, completely moved aft, facilitates sailing with a small crew. The cockpit features lines reminiscent of automotive design and a large glazed area at the front, providing 360º visibility from the inside. The “raised saloon” design offers greater freedom in the layout of the interior spaces, which has allowed Lucio Micheletti to design a boat with surprisingly spacious environments for a sailboat of this length, as is evident in the saloon. The spaciousness of the rooms is not the only remarkable thing about the interior of this first model, whose aesthetics are breathtaking and highlight the Italian designer's ability to combine, to perfection, functionality with dazzling beauty. “For the exterior, I have tried to keep only useful and functional elements, while for the interior I have prioritized the feeling of spaciousness and luminosity” comments Lucio Micheletti who will collaborate closely with the ICE Yachts technical office in the design of each model of this new series to deliver to each owner his ideal boat, thus ensuring a high level of customization.
Committed to always offer the perfect solution, prioritizing performance and safety, ICE Yachts has relied on the expertise of its distributor in Spain, Yacht Consulting Barcelona, to manage the manufacturing, by a Spanish company, of several titanium components for the ICE 66 rs, specifically the pulpit, candlesticks and thimbles.

Yacht Consulting Barcelona will be present at the Cannes Yachting Festival, at the ICE Yachts stand SAIL 203, SAIL 044, to present the ICE 66 rs. This new model promises to revolutionize the cruising yacht racing sector, setting new standards of innovation and performance.
